Why do I have to download an .ics file?

You may have noticed that we download a file with the extension .ics for you.

While Google and Outlook allow you to add events through links, Apple calendar does not have this functionality. We therefore give you an ICS file. ICS is short for “Internet Calendaring and Scheduling Core Object Specification” (iCalendar). It is a widely used standard and will work for most mainstream calendar applications.

When you download and open it (this happens automatically on iPhones), a page will open on your default calendar app asking you to add the event to your calendar. Just click “add” and you’re all set! The process is the same for PCs and Macs. Just click the file “your-flight.ics” that shows up in your downloads bar and it’ll take you to your calendar, with all the details filled in. if you’d prefer to directly add it to Google or Outlook calendar, just click the respective links.
